چکیده

We consider reversible work extraction from two finite reservoirs of perfect gases with given initial temperatures T+ and T−, when the final values of the temperatures are known but they can be assigned to specific reservoirs only probabilistically. Using inference, we characterize the reduced performance resulting from this uncertainty. The estimates for the efficiency reveal that uncertainty regarding the exact labels reduces the maximal efficiency below the Carnot value, its minimum value is the well known Curzon-Ahlborn value: 1− √ T−/T+. We also estimate the efficiency when even the value of temperature is not specified, by finding a suitable prior distribution for this problem. For the case of maximal uncertainty in the labels, we find the average estimate for efficiency drops to one-third value of Carnot limit. Using the concavity property of efficiency, we find the upper bound for the average estimate to agree with the CA-value upto two lowest order terms in the expansion near equilibrium.

Efficiency and its bounds for a quantum Einstein engine at maximum power.

We study a quantum thermal engine model for which the heat transfer law is determined by Einstein's theory of radiation. The working substance of the quantum engine is assumed to be a two-level quantum system of which the constituent particles obey Maxwell-Boltzmann (MB), Fermi-Dirac (FD), or Bose-Einstein (BE) distributions, respectively, at equilibrium. The thermal efficiency and its bounds a...

Prediction of Thermal performance nanofluid Al2O3 by Artificial Neural Network and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systemt

In recent years, the use of modeling methods that directly utilize empirical data is increasing due to the high accuracy in predicting the results of the process, rather than statistical methods. In this paper, the ability of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Fuzzy-Neural Inference System (ANFIS) models in the prediction of the thermal performance of Al2O3 nanofluid that is measured ...

Efficiency Evaluation and Ranking DMUs in the Presence of Interval Data with Stochastic Bounds

On account of the existence of uncertainty, DEA occasionally faces the situation of imprecise data, especially when a set of DMUs include missing data, ordinal data, interval data, stochastic data, or fuzzy data. Therefore, how to evaluate the efficiency of a set of DMUs in interval environments is a problem worth studying. In this paper, we discussed the new method for evaluation and ranking i...

The effect of SiO2 nanoparticle on the performance of photovoltaic thermal system: Experimental and Theoretical approach

The low conversion efficiency of solar cells produces large amounts of thermal energy to the cells, and with an increase in the temperature of solar cells, their electrical efficiency decreases. Therefore, a hybrid photovoltaic thermal system improves the overall efficiency of the system by adding thermal equipment to the solar cell and removing excessive heat from these cells. In this paper, w...

MAS: a multiplicative approximation scheme for probabilistic inference

We propose a multiplicative approximation scheme (MAS) for inference problems in graphical models, which can be applied to various inference algorithms. The method uses -decompositions which decompose functions used throughout the inference procedure into functions over smaller sets of variables with a known error . MAS translates these local approximations into bounds on the accuracy of the re...
